AKŞEHİR KİLECİ MASJİD

Kileci Masjid, located in the neighborhood named after itself, is a foundation work built during the Seljuk period, in the 13th century, in 1230. Built of rubble and cut stone and brick, the masjid has a square plan. The square-planned masjid is covered with a dome with squinch. The dome was covered with lead in the later period. The last congregation place of the building has three cells and is covered with a vault. The last congregation place, which was completed during the last period repairs, was built of brick. On the wooden door wings of the building, it is possible to see examples of Seljuk-style ornamentation consisting of stylized palmates, rumi and lotuses made in superficial and deep carving technique.
