ŞERAFEDDİN MOSQUE

Şerafeddin Mosque is named after Sheikh Şerâfeddin who first built the building in the 12th century. This Seljuk period work underwent a repair in the 15th century during the period of Karamanids and was demolished and rebuilt by Mehmed Cavusoglu Memi Bey in 1637. Although it belongs to the late period in terms of its construction date, the building, which shows classical Ottoman period architectural features, was built of cut stone material. The dome of the building with a central plan is carried by ten legs, four of which are polygonal and six of which are cylindrical. This central dome is supported by a half dome in the southeast direction. Şerafeddin Mosque, which has a minaret with a single balcony and a seven-celled last congregation place, has rich pencil ornamentation in the interior.
