KÜÇÜK KARATAY MADRASA

Located to the east of the Karatay Madrasa, opposite Alaeddin Hill, the building dates to the 13th century and consists of a single iwan. The original form of the Seljuk period is unknown. To the south of the iwan is the burial place of a mausoleum belonging to Kemâleddîn Rumtaş, the brother of the Seljuk vizier Celaleddin Karatay, who is known to have been the building's patron. Geometric decorations made with glazed bricks can be seen on the side walls of the existing iwan, which was built of rubble stone and brick. The structure is currently used as a commercial building.
