HACI ÖMER AĞA (KAVASLAR) HOUSE
Hacı Ömer Ağa (Kavaslar) House, built in 1840 during the Ottoman period as a foundation work, has a rectangular plan. Only the main mass of the house, whose barn, camel stable and courtyard parts were demolished, has survived to the present day. Built with rubble stone material, the house has a plan consisting of a chamber and two rooms around it, which is very common in Karaman and its surroundings. The interior of Hacı Ömer Ağa (Kavaslar) House, which is very plain on the outside, has rich ornamentation examples. The structure is the most important work of civil architecture in Karaman in terms of ornamental value. The wooden ornamentation, which evokes the effect of a Seljuk Renaissance, can be seen on the door-window joinery of the house, on the flower bed, the alcove, and the ceiling surfaces.
