KENAN DEDE (YANIK) MOSQUE

Kenan Dede (Yanık) Mosque is located on Hacı Hasan Başı Street, northwest of Aliyenler Cemetery. Built as a foundation work of mudbrick material, it belongs to the 19th century. The building takes its name from the Kenan Dede Masjid built in the same place in 1646. The harim part of the building has a rectangular plan and is divided into three pitches perpendicular to the mihrab wall with eight wooden poles. The building has a flat ceiling internally and is covered with a four-sided hipped roof externally. The building has been renovated to a great extent with the repairs it has undergone in the process. One of the most remarkable features of the building, which has an original stucco mihrab, is the wooden minaret with a unique minaret balcony arrangement unique to Konya.
