PİRİ MEHMET PASHA MOSQUE
Located southeast of the Aziziye Mosque on the street named after it, the Piri Mehmet Pasha Mosque was built in 1523 by Piri Mehmet Pasha, the vizier of Suleiman the Magnificent. Built of cut and rubble stone, the mosque is a classical Ottoman mosque with a three-celled last congregation place, a square plan, a single dome and a single minaret. To the west of the mosque is a square unit that was used as a lodge-guesthouse in its first construction. On the other side of the mosque is the Siyavuş Pasha Tomb. The building is important as it is an example of the mosques with lodges and guesthouse, which are mostly seen in the early periods of Ottoman architecture.
