BEYHEKİM MASJİD
Located to the west of Alaeddin Hill, in the neighborhood named after itself, the structure belongs to the Seljuk period (13th century). Built by the physician Ekmeleddin Müeyyed al-Nahcıvanî and one of the masjids with a last congregation place, the building was constructed of brick and cut stone. The masjid section, which has a rectangular plan close to the square, has a single dome. The most remarkable feature of the building is the tile mosaic mihrab, which was smuggled to Germany in 1899 and is now exhibited in the Berlin Staatliche Museum. There are rich abstract floral and geometric decorations on the mihrab dominated by turquoise color. Within the masjid, which is a foundation work, there is a mausoleum belonging to its benefactor.
