KARAMAN DEREKÖY THE FİSANDON CHURCH MOSQUE

The Fisandon Church Mosque was converted from the Dereköy/Fisandon Church which was built in the 9th-10th centuries. The building was constructed of cut stone material in a closed Greek cross plan form. The interior is supported by a dome resting on four square pillars and  barrel vault on four sides. The ones at the corners are covered with cross vaults. A niche was made on the south façade of the interior and a mihrab was formed and a stone pulpit was placed next to it. After the building was converted into a mosque, a minaret with a single balcony built of cut stone material was added to the northeast corner.
