HATUNİYE (DEVLET HATUN) MASJİD

Hatuniye (Devlet Hatun) Masjid, located to the east of Alaeddin Hill, is a foundation work dating back to the Seljuk period, built in 1229. Although the building was first constructed during the Seljuk period, only the minaret part of the 13th century building has survived to the present day. The current masjid, built of stone and mudbrick, dates back to 1873 and took its present form in the 1950s. The most important element of the building is the minaret, also known as the stump minaret, which dates back to the Seljuk period. The minaret with its inscription on itself is built of brick. The turquoise colored tile mosaic details on the minaret, which has a polygonal body and a cylindrical honeycomb section , reflect the characteristic features of Seljuk ornamentation.
