KARAMAN YENİ MİNARELİ MOSQUE

It was built by Canbazzade Kadı Abdurrahman Efendi in 1522 during the Ottoman period as a foundation work. Built of cut stone material, the building is a single domed structure with a square plan with a three-celled last congregation place. The minaret in the northwest corner of the mosque was demolished by a lightning strike and later rebuilt. The structure takes its new minaret name because of this event. In addition; although it is a classical Ottoman mosque, the fact that the last congregation place, which is covered with three domes, is quite wider than the harim part outside the general practices can be explained by the reconstruction of the last congregation place together with the minaret. The square-planned harim section is roofed with a lead-covered dome carried by pendentives and resting on a polygonal pulley. The upper floor of the entrance part of the harim is used as the women's section. It is possible to see ornamental elements on the mihrab, pulpit and column capitals of the structure.
