YARIM (İZZETTİN KEYKAVUS) TOMB
The tomb, the construction of which was started by Atabek Ayaz by the order of the Seljuk sultan İzzettin Keykavus I but left unfinished in 1220 after the sudden death of the sultan, is located in the courtyard of Alaeddin Mosque and west of Kılıç Arslan Tomb II. The structure, which was started to be built as a foundation work but could not be completed, was built of cut stone material. The octagonal planned tomb has no upper cover. The entrance door to the cist floor is animated with an inverted U-shaped geometric curb. The building is the only example of a tomb in Anatolia that was built for a Seljuk sultan but left unfinished and not buried.
