THE GREAT MOSQUE OF ERMENEK
As a foundation work, it was built by Karamanoğlu Mahmud Bey in 1302-1303 during the Karamanids period. Located on a sloping land, the structure was built on support walls. The texture formed by these support walls gave the building a small courtyard in the western part. The polygonal minaret with a single balcony of the structure is located in the southwest corner. From this courtyard, one enters the last congregation place, part of which has been closed. The harim part of the rectangular planned building is divided into three courts parallel to the mihrab wall with sixteen piers. The building is covered with a flat wooden ceiling from the inside and a hipped roof from the outside. The entrance to the harim section has two floors and the upper floor is designed as a full-length mahfil. Ulu Mosque is a very remarkable structure in terms of its ornamental features. The ornaments are located on the mihrab, the cantilevers of the mahfil floor and the unique doors and windows of the mosque.
